We hope to help you understand dentures and how best to adapt to wearing them. Dentures are artificial appliances; you will need time to adjust to them because wearing dentures is a learned process.
Your patience in adapting to your new denture will be much easier once you understand that any denture, no matter how well designed or constructed, is, at best, a substitute for missing teeth, not a substitute for natural teeth.
The keys to success with your new denture are patience and perseverance. We never expect you to tolerate pain or soreness, but it is important to leave your dentures in your mouth for at least the first few days, only taking them out if you suffer pain or soreness and, of course, to clean them.
